NOSH - North Shore Soup Kitchen
NOSH has been feeding the hungry since 1989. The North Shore Soup Kitchen reopened its doors on November 16th, 2021 and had to close on December 2021. NOSH is currently looking for a new space.
It has been just over a year and a half since the pandemic hit and NOSH served their last meal at the North Shore Soup Kitchen. It was March 3, 2020 when they had to shut our doors for the first time in 32 years. Luckily, during the pandemic many of our families were able to receive weekly deliveries of food from NOSH, a new program of the North Shore Soup Kitchen created in response to the pandemic. Also the soup kitchen made arrangements with local delis to feed their homeless guests. The Soup Kitchen will once again be located in the basement of the First Baptist Church in Glen Cove. For the past several weeks their volunteers have been busy cleaning, and painting and preparing for opening day. For their guests, returning to the Soup Kitchen is like coming home. They consider their volunteers to be like family and their trained advocates are always there to help them address the pressing issues that impact their lives. It will be reassuring to know that their r doors will be open again. At first their nutritious hot meals will be distributed in “to go” containers. But, as soon as they can they will fully open their doors and invite individuals and families in for a meal, social contact, advocacy and access to donated clothing, groceries and other important items such as toiletries and diapers.
In August 2021, a fire destroyed NOSH Headquarters in Glen Cove and is now reopening its doors. NOSH needs donations now more than even.

This was our first donations in October, 2021. We collected more than 3 bins!
Since NOSH is only open from 9am to 1pm, David delivered what we collected in November. We collected 5 full bags of diapers, baby food, formula, baby shampoo and hand sanitizers.
